Once again Beirut was pleased to host the 2011 AFED Conference on the 27th and 28th of October.
Despite the economic repercussions we continue to face over the last three year economic downfall, the outcome of this year’s conference was quite impressive.
The annual conference of the Arab Fund for Environment and Development was held at the Emirates Dome of the Grand Habtoor Hotel in Beirut, hosting an average of 500 individuals, private companies and NGOs from around the globe. |

Kharafi National was present for the fourth year in a row, as sponsors with a booth that striked attention as soon as you entered the Exhibitors Hall. As Waste water management & agriculture were focal points of this conference, the presence of KN booth as promoters of UDC and the Sulaibiya WWTRP as well as MD, Mr. Samer Younis’ presence, as part of the AFED Board of Trustees proved to be useful in presenting to the market the importance of environmental projects to Kharafi National. |
The motivating speeches jump started the two days, which kept the participants engaged with important guest speakers and panels with round table discussions. Over the two days companies, NGO’s and individuals including many students learnt how to start up a green economy and how to move towards sustainable investments and management.
Agriculture, Waste management, Green Energy, Transport, Tourism and other topics were presented and debated. As a company, Kharafi National’s core operations are becoming more concentrated on environment and social infrastructure development, values that transcend from its operations to its people. AFED gives us the ideas and the initiatives, yet is companies like Kharafi National that is implementing the sustainable projects that is moving the Arab World towards a greener future. |
