Because the best HSE practice is good for business, the company seeks continual improvement in its HSE procedures. Indeed it is wholly committed to the highest standards of health, safety and the environment in all aspects of its operations in Kuwait and overseas, and complies fully with all laws, regulations and international codes governing safety matters.

Kharafi National’s HSE Department focuses on ensuring the safety of all the company’s employees and equipment, its clients’ property and the protection of the general public. The department has a dedicated team of more than 145 safety personnel, including managers, engineers and officers, headed by the corporate HSE manager. A fleet of nine ambulances staffed by qualified paramedics is always on stand-by, ready at all times to meet any possible emergency.

Systems and procedures have been established for implementing the requisites of safety at all stages during the operation of plant and machinery and the handling of materials. Engineering measures and management controls are enforced strictly throughout the company, and employees are provided with the personal protective equipment that they need for the work they are doing and that conforms with the international standards relevant to that kind of work.

Safety awareness among employees is created and sustained through intensive training programmes. Safety inspection and internal safety audits are conducted periodically with the aim of discovering strengths and weaknesses and the operational areas at risk in order to minimize losses through accident and damage to plant and equipment.
