Saipem Kharafi National MMO

Saipem Kharafi National MMO is a joint venture between Saipem and Kharafi National that offers maintenance, modification and operations services to the oil, gas, petrochemical, and power industries in GCC area. Continuous growth and expansion in the GCC is leading these industries to focus on their core businesses and to meet the challenge of a lack of skilled manpower. Consequently, we believe that these industries will progressively outsource an increasing amount of their maintenance activities.

Today, the regional market for maintenance and operational services requires world class international competencies to satisfy the needs of clients. The vision of the partnership between Saipem and Kharafi National is to be the leading solutions provider to the energy industries in the region, and this vision is the raison d’etre for this equally-owned joint venture company.

Gulf Insulation Systems (GIS)

GIS was established in 2006 as a joint venture between Kharafi National and Riva & Mariani of Italy in order to execute insulation works within the Arabian Gulf area. A state-of-the-art cladding fabrication shop within Kharafi National’s Mina Abdullah facilities with a production capacity of up to 20,000sq m per month was completed in October 2007.

Kharafi National has established facilities covering an area of 5500sq m within its Mina Abdullah complex. These consist of offices, stores and a highly advance cladding fabrication shop that uses MABI, special computerized fabrication equipment from Switzerland.

The cladding workshop has an approximate area of 960sq m and has the capacity to produce 15,000sq m per month of fabricated cladding material.

In order to satisfy the construction and maintenance requirements of its valued clients Kharafi National has also established an insulation support unit. This will enhance the value of Kharafi National’s oil and gas projects by:

	providing better control of scheduling and possible back charges;
	reducing the number of external sub-contracts;
	enabling material procurement, delivery and handling in accordance with KN procedures to be better controlled; and
	improving the availability of resources and the flexibility needed to cater for the requirements of projects during peak times.
